Igreja de Nossa Senhora das Neves
Nestas fotografias podemos observar a calçada portuguesa presente na entrada da escadaria que dá acesso à Igreja de Nossa Senhora das Neves. A pedra predominante neste pavimento é a pedra preta de origem vulcânica da ilha contrastando com pedra calcária branca do continente, foi também inscrito as iniciais A M e o da Santa Padroeira desta freguesia.
A Igreja de
Nossa Senhora das Neves foi mandada construir pelo Contador Martim Vaz de
Bulhão nos finais do século XV e foi reconstruida na primeira metade do século
XVIII. Esta igreja localiza-se na freguesia de Relva, no concelho de Ponta
Delgada, na ilha de São Miguel, nos Açores.
Quem visita esta igreja depara-se
com uma planta e formato rectangular e surpreende-se com o seu interior, pois é
um interior belo e imponente, onde se nota o Barroco da primeira metade do século
XVIII. São de destacar também as duas pias de água benta em pedra (século XV e
XVI), a pintura sobre tábua de São Cristovão (século XVI), um painel de
azulejos da parede exterior da capela e a escultura de Nossa Senhora das Neves.

Nossa Senhora das Neves Church

Bulhão ordered the church´s construction in the late 15th century
and it was rebuilt in the first half of at 18th century. This church
is located in Relva parish, in Ponta Delgada county, on the island of São
Miguel, in the Azores.
Who visit
this church come across a rectangular shape and plan and surprised with its
interior, because it is a beautiful and imposing interior, where we can see the
Baroque of the first half of the eighteenth century. We also can see the two
sinks of holy water in stone (15th and 16th century), the St. Christopher
painting (16th century), a panel of tiles in the outer wall of the church and
the Nossa Senhora das Neves sculpture.

In these
photographs we can observe the Portuguese Cobblestone at the staircase entrance
that gives access to the Nossa Senhora das Neves Church. The main stone in this
pavement is the black stone of volcanic origin of the island contrasting with
white limestone of the continent, it was also inscribed the words A and M and
the name of the Santa Patroness of this parish.
