O maço de calceteiro é um instrumento com aproximadamente 5 kg, feito artesanalmente por carpinteiros. É constituído por um cabo aproximadamente de 1.50 cm e na sua base é formado por um bloco de madeira maciça, geralmente com a forma de um paralelepípedo, encavado ao meio para usos semelhantes ao do martelo. Os primeiros maços utilizados, nos finais do século XIX, eram redondos porém, atualmente alguns calceteiros optam pelo formato retangular.
Este é um instrumento usado numa das fases da arte de calcetar. Trata-se de um pilão com o objetivo de bater a pedra até ela ficar bem presa ao chão, compactando-as e encaixando-as de modo a que não hajam irregularidades.
