White Lisbon The Lisbon City Council Square

White Lisbon. The home of the Lisbon Town Council a dignified square where the light can make stone seem weightless. De Lisboa Praça Municipio Let us begin at the The Lisbon Town Council buildings at Praca do Concelho near Praca Comercio and the Post Office where the King was assassinated in 1908. The intense light here gives the stone of the central spiral a gravity defying lightness. An 18th Century construction made from a single stone, nowadays accompanied in the square by more modern playful pieces. De Lisboa Praça Municipio The town hall building itself was designed by Domingos Parente and contains impressive paintings and a wonderful staircase. Let us go now down Rua Arsenal where there is an intense smell of dried fish towards Rua Alecrim with it's trendy shops to the transport center of downtown Lisbon. Cais Sodre.

Leria- A modern city overlooked by an ancient castle

De Leiria Leiria is a growing modern city on the banks of the Liz River. With a hilltop castle, an inviting old quarter, and good transportation links, it is a good place to stay for those who also want to explore Nazaré , Fátima , or the abbeys of Batalha and Alcobaça . The imposing castle can be seen from any point in town. In the 14th century it served as a summer royal palace for King Dinis and his queen, and included a Gothic church now in ruins. Parts of the interior are frequently used for exhibitions, and from the Gothic arches of an elegant arched balcony there's a magnificent view of the city and its surroundings. In the old town, easily reached on foot from the castle, there are some attractive 16th and 17th century buildings, and a plain Renaissance church that is the city's 16th century cathedral with an elegant vaulted nave inside. A good place to rest is Rodrigues Lobo Square with some fine arcaded buildings and shops. The narrow streets from the nearby Candi

A Story Of Love And Street Art From Juan in Portugal "These hearts were painted by my girlfriend and I in Coimbra, Portugal a couple of years back. She is from Coimbra and I am from Chicago and we've been able to maintain a long distance relationship for the past 2.5 years. Since then, we continue to paint some of these hearts every time we are together in Coimbra. What is interesting about Portugal's Calçada (sidewalk), is that you can take a combination of a minimum of three stones and find the shape of an abstract heart form. The heart can grow by adding more stones to the original three." Posted by marc
