It started to be constructed in 1795, in classical style, and was concluded in 1878.
The plan, by engineer Carlos Almarante, was changed mostly in the vestry and in the retable of the high altar.
Interior
The temple has only one nave, relatively tall, with a barrel vault, girded by ten butt end arches.
In the chapel there is a memorial painting of the Barcas Bridge catastrophe.
It has an old painting of the German school, of great value, representing Our Lady of Divine Providence.
Its Crib is also famous.
