Santa Comba Dão ( Portuguese pronunciation: [ˈsɐ̃tɐ ˈkõbɐ ˈðɐ̃w] ) is a city and a municipality in Portugal with a total area of 112.0 km² and a total municipal population of 12,393 inhabitants. The city proper has a population of 3,300. The municipality is composed of 9 parishes and is located in the district Viseu . The present mayor is João António Pais Lourenço, elected by Social Democratic Party and by the People's Party . António de Oliveira Salazar , who was the Prime Minister of Portugal from 1932 to 1968 and leader of the Estado Novo , was born in Vimieiro, Santa Comba Dão on 28 April 1889.
