Along the Atlantic coast in Sitio da Nazare, one was placed in 1939 commemorating the arrival of Padrão Vasco da Gama to Nazare.

According to history, Vasco da Gama before embarking on the sea route to India as a pilgrim Nossa Senhora of Nazaré, where he invoked his protection during the trip. Whenhe returned to Portugal was again the Sitio thank Nossa Senhora da Nazaré.
